HATFIELD — The Hatfield Select Board narrowed a projected fiscal 2027 budget gap to an $84,000 surplus while voting on several town business items. Town Administrator Andrew said the shortfall fell from $142,000 after line-item fixes and a $75,000 state grant for Hatfield Public Schools credited to Sen. Joe Comerford, calling it "great news." The board voted unanimously to start contract talks with new IT vendor Twin Lakes Technology, replacing Souser IT, and to submit health insurance plan design changes under Chapter 32B expected to save $34,000 a year.
The fire chief warned Hatfield Ambulance "will not have enough money to fund FY28" without changes to how reserves are drawn down. The board also agreed to consolidate fire, police and Council on Aging vehicles at the Elm Street garage, with the North Hatfield Fire Station closing around July 1.
