Select Board · Meeting of April 7, 2026
Hatfield's Select Board and Finance Committee spent Tuesday's joint meeting narrowing a $143,000 shortfall in the fiscal 2027 budget. Finance Committee Chair Sean and budget presenter David said the deficit had already been cut from $568,000 through department reductions and alternate funding sources, including Community Preservation Act transfers and cemetery account revenue. Officials said the property tax levy is projected to rise 11.9 percent over three years, with health insurance alone adding $600,000 and state assessments climbing 40 percent.
Fire Chief Bob told the board South County Ambulance will start charging $350 per call in fiscal 2027, an estimated $70,000 cost. The board separately voted unanimously to appoint Walter Marek interim building inspector at $36 an hour and to approve a bake sale request for the May 19 town election.
