Hatfield Select Board Accepts $56,000 Pedestrian Safety Grant, Reorganizes Leadership

HATFIELD — May 24, 2022 — Hatfield Select Board accepts $56,000 state grant to install pedestrian crosswalk signals at four locations. The Shared Streets and Spaces Program grant, secured largely through the work of DPW Director Phil Genovese, will fund flashing beacon signals near Smith Academy, at North Street and Main Street, near the Main Street market, and at the town's 55-and-older housing development, with a possible sidewalk extension on School Street also included in the application. The board voted unanimously to enter into the state agreement, noting expenditures will begin after July 1 when the new fiscal year opens, and that reimbursement will follow a process similar to Chapter 90 highway aid. In the same meeting, the board unanimously elected Diana Zino as the new Select Board chair and approved a one-day liquor license for David Capriati of The Beer Guy LLC for a June 5 private event at the town pavilion.
