HATFIELD — The Hatfield Select Board voted unanimously to approve a $9,046.22-per-week ambulance contract with South County EMS, locking in about $38,000 a month in paramedic coverage. Board members said they had "no other option" after Northampton declined and private providers quoted comparable rates. Separately, the board reviewed without voting a Whately proposal to bill Hatfield $500 each time Whately's fire department responds as the primary engine, retroactive to July 1.

Officials reported the fiscal 2027 budget gap has narrowed to $200,000-$220,000 from an earlier $350,000 estimate after the state certified $144,000 in unused levy capacity. The board also adopted updated HAZMAT 21E fire response fees and ordered a Pine Edge Way resident to remove an unauthorized second water meter before any billing abatement is approved.
