Hatfield Select Board Unanimously Approves FY2020 Budget for Town Meeting
HATFIELD — May 9, 2019 — Hatfield Select Board approves FY2020 budget with $6,169 surplus and a three-source ambulance funding plan. The board voted unanimously Thursday to send the fiscal year 2020 budget to Town Meeting after Finance Committee Chair Darryl Williams walked members through corrections to a spreadsheet formula that had distorted earlier figures, leaving a final excess levy capacity of $6,169.11. Of roughly $83,000 in remaining free cash, the board agreed to direct $17,000 toward the town's 16-year-old ambulance, supplemented by $13,000 from the ambulance surplus account and $20,000 from the ambulance trust fund — the latter requiring Town Meeting approval. An additional $25,000 was proposed for the town's 350th anniversary committee, with the remaining $41,000 earmarked for the finance reserve, contingent on state certification of free cash at $404,000. General bids for Town Hall renovations are due June 19.
