Hatfield Select Board Licenses Heritage Tavern, Defers Park Concert Over Parking Dispute
HATFIELD — February 28, 2023 — Hatfield Select Board approves Heritage Tavern entertainment licenses, defers park concert over graduation parking conflict. The board unanimously granted the Heritage Tavern an entertainment license for indoor live music, one- to two-piece acoustic acts, and karaoke, all ending no later than 11 p.m., after the applicant scaled back an original request for entertainment until 1 a.m.; a separate jukebox and automatic amusement device license also passed unanimously. A request from the Hatfield Cultural Council to hold a concert in Smith Academy Park on June 2 from 6 to 8:30 p.m. was set aside without a vote after members noted the date coincides with Smith Academy's graduation and that both events would compete for the same Our Lady of Grace church parking lot. Chair Luke Longstreeth directed staff to connect the Cultural Council with school officials before the next meeting. Capital Planning Committee Chair David presented a five-year plan dominated by a multi-year elementary school roof replacement projected to exceed $1 million overall, with tight finances expected to force difficult trade-offs in the fiscal year 2024 budget process.
