Hatfield Select Board Approves Fee Overhaul, Pavilion Redesign, and $1.5 Million Grant

HATFIELD — December 13, 2022 — Hatfield Select Board unanimously approves electrical fee overhaul, $1.5 million grant, and pavilion redesign at December 13 meeting. Building Inspector Tim Pachorek presented a comprehensive revision to the town's electrical permit fee schedule — unchanged for an estimated 10 to 15 years — raising the residential minimum inspection fee from $50 to $60 and increasing the solar permit fee from $50 to a minimum of $250 for residential installations, effective January 1, 2023. The board also accepted a $1.5 million MassWorks grant contract for the Route 5 Water and Sewer project and approved a $17,000 change order to architect Lara Fitch's contract to pursue a timber frame redesign of the long-delayed town center pavilion, projected to cost well under $200,000 using existing Community Preservation Act funds. The board approved up to $10,000 in ARPA funding for Full Circle Technologies online permitting software and authorized a part-time hire of former Wastewater Superintendent Eric Meals — who holds a Grade 6 license — at eight hours per week to resolve a DEP compliance violation at the town's wastewater plant.
